Review: Nocturne Falls Universe Novellas Part 2

Kristen Painter has extended the Nocturne Falls Universe and got a bunch of authors to write novellas. I think they are a must read for fans of the Universe. And also a great way to discover new author- or at least to me they were all new authors.

This is second part of the reviews novellas. For the first part visit here: Nocturne Falls Universe Review's Part 1

The Witch Rescues Her Werewolf: A Nocturne Falls Universe story

Author: Cate Dean
Pages: Kindle Edition, 102 pages
Genre: PNR
Release Date:January 24th 2017

Summary:

Lidia Reston’s magic is fading.

She hopes that a move to Nocturne Falls will help her find out why – and maybe get some of it back. But when a sexy werewolf crashes into her life – literally – she realizes that the quiet life she had planned just flew out the window. And she learns that there’s more than one kind of magic.

Harrison Grey has always been clumsy, and has been the star of many jokes since he tripped over his first branch. Now, as the owner of a shop selling interesting keepsakes to the tourists, he can at least go about his day without embarrassing himself. Until he tumbles at the feet of a beautiful new resident.

Her humor, and her acceptance, restore his belief in himself. When he learns of her recent loss, he helps her find the person she can be, with or without magic.

Review:

A cute novella- BUT: Let's just get to my biggest problem: the romance. It's insta-everything.
I mean I know this is short and all, but does it all have to be this insta? Couldn't it be a wee bit more slow. I get the insta-lust. I am cool with that. But the one and only vibes... after a few days? Not my thing.
However besides that I enjoyed this. It fits right into Painters world. So defo a must read for fans.

Can he find his own magic? And will his fame threaten the anonymity she values so much? They make sweet harmony together, but one sour note could ruin it all.

Review:
Good news for fan of Nocturne Falls - there are more Authors joining the fun!

I have never read anything by Carsen, so I was very excited to discover a new PNR author!
The thing that amazed me most about this was that this felt so much like the other NF stories and books. Carsen extended the NF Universe seamlessly. It's so well done, that would I have not known it was written her, I would have just assumed it was written by Painter.
The world building is just as imaginative and clever, just like Painter she takes bits of mythology and makes it her own. I loved the Kelpie!!
The character building is done just a flawless. It was interesting to get to know the two MCs and revisit some old characters, whom I love. And can I say again how well Carsen fits things in with Painter? Because her Nick and Willa are exactly as I remember them, it was literally revisiting old friends. Brilliantly done.
My only little issue however, was the romance. It was a lot too insta for me. Though the chemistry between Trick and Daria is smoldering however and I did enjoy that.

Extremely well written and the beautiful music scenes make this a fabulous addition to Nocturne falls.

The Truth About Cats And Wolves: A Nocturne Falls Universe story

Author: Alethea Kontis
Pages: Kindle Edition, 132 pages
Genre: PNR
Release Date:January 24th 2017

Summary:

Like many paranormals of Greek descent, Kai Xanthopoulos will not know her true nature until her young powers fully manifest. Unlike her parents—and much to the dismay of her stray cat best friend—Kai has chosen not to spend the rest of her life at the diner in Nocturne Falls. She takes a job at Delaney’s Delectables instead, a decision that puts her directly in the path of a fugitive werewolf that could change her destiny…

Finn Kincaid is cursed. Literally. Accused of murdering his pack-brother, beaten and left for dead in the woods, he runs to Nocturne Falls to seek sanctuary with the one cousin who successfully got out of Tennessee: Ivy Merrow, the sheriff’s wife. On his way there, he’s drawn off course by a girl with no idea how much power she possesses, both within herself, and over him.

Together, Kai and Finn must find a way to break the curse and fight their fate, without destroying each other—and their future—in the process.

Review:

My favorite of the Nocturne Falls Universe Novellas so far!

I totally fell in love with the cast. Kontis did an amazing job at the character building. This is just a novella but I feel like I know Finn and Kai.
Add to that the support cast which was done well as well. I love that we get a little visit with old loved characters from NF. The amazing thing about this is that it feels like the characters that Painter had written.
The storyline is cute. There is a total insta vibe going but I didn't mind AT ALL, which shows you how well Kontis did with the plot.
The writing style is wonderful as well.
This left me wanting an entire book about Finn and Kai. I definitely will read more by Kontis!
